Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using our service.

Hire Period

  • All hire items are available for a six-week hire period, excluding postage time. Proof of return (if posting) should be provided within this 6 weeks.
  • We will do our best to ensure your items arrive by your selected start date, but please allow for potential postal or travel delays.
  • Extensions may be requested (e.g., if your baby is overdue). Extensions are subject to availability and charged at $50 per week or part thereof.

Returns:

  • Items must be returned within six weeks of your hire start date unless an extension has been approved.
  • The hirer must keep their Australia Post tracking number as proof of return if free returns is not applicable.
  • Where possible, please reuse the original packaging. If this is damaged or discarded, the hirer must ensure safe and adequate packaging.


Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit will be added at checkout - see hire page for cost.
  • The deposit will be refunded within two weeks of the items being returned in their original condition, allowing for normal wear and tear.
  • If items are damaged, the deposit will not be refunded.


Payment and Refunds

  • Hire fees are non-refundable, whether or not the equipment was used.
  • A refund or replacement will only be offered if the item is found to be defective through fault of manufacturer or seller.
  • If your circumstances change and you cannot use the pool, please contact us to discuss – refunds are assessed case by case.
  • Outbound postage is included in your hire fee; return postage is the hirer’s responsibility.


Damage

  • All items must be inspected upon arrival. Please inflate the pool immediately and in advance to using to check for leaks or faults.
  • Any issues must be reported to Good to Birth straight away with photo evidence.
  • If damage occurs due to misuse or failure to follow instructions, Good to Birth reserves the right to retain the deposit to cover replacement costs.

Proper Usage

  • Birth Pools and Liners:
    • Pools must only be used in line with the supplier Earthy Birth’s instructions and must always be used with a liner.
    • Keep sharp objects, electrical items, and pets away from the pool.
    • Children must be supervised around the pool at all times.
    • Use tap water only. Additives like soap or essential oils are not recommended. 
    • Do not overfill. The water level should reach the labourer's axilla or breasts when sitting.
    • Ensure the water temperature is between 36°C and 37.5°C.
    • The hirer is responsible for any injury or property damage caused by misuse.
    • When draining the pool, use the provided hose and equipment, rather than manually draining water with buckets.
    • Remove the pool liner and dispose of with clinical waste
    • Clean with disinfectant wipes before deflating
  • Other Hire Items:
    • All other equipment must be used safely and according to the provided instructions.
    • The hirer accepts responsibility for any damage, injury, or property loss caused by misuse.

Liability

  • Good to Birth accepts no liability for damage, injury, or death resulting from misuse, improper use, or use of the pool in a room that cannot structurally support it.
  • We require that all births using our birth pools are attended by a licensed midwife.
  • Pregnant people with heart conditions, high/low blood pressure, or other medical concerns should consult their healthcare provider before using a birth pool.
  • Good to Birth is not responsible for any adverse outcomes, including injury or death, before, during, or after labour and birth.
  • The hirer acknowledges that the safety of all individuals (birthing mothers, unborn babies, newborns, and anyone near the equipment) is entirely their responsibility.
  • A caregiver should be with the labourer at all times while they are in the pool.
